Under the terms of the five-year deal, the existing technologies, systems and equipment
were upgraded to take advantage of cutting-edge Internet Protocol (IP) networks thereby
generating economies of scale through a single unified global network solution, visible
throughout the organization. The new network enabled AVIS to significantly improve the
efficiency of the 'Wizard' online reservation system to all of its locations, which is key to
its competitive advantage, while setting the foundation for future services.
